With practice and guidance they will usually learn, after awhile, to find the definite points pertinent to the topic under investigation. Working together in the class will be of service at the outset, but this should not be allowed to take the place Of independent work for too long a time. It does not fall within the scope of the present volume to discuss the order Of growth Of the Old Testament. The general order adopted as the basis for tracing the history Of Hebrew religious ideas and practices is indicated in the brief chrono logical table Of Hebrew literature, following the list Of principal dates in Hebrew history, at the opening of the book.
