Long Tails, Short Tails, and No Tails is a series of stories beginning in 1775 and ending around 1865. The stories are being read to a couple of kitten cousins whose time has come to hear some family history. In book one, you will meet the modern day family of Barlow, his daughter, Matilda, his sister, Star and her son Blackberry. The family relives history as they read the old family book. The history read is of the adventures of ancestors, Nathaniel and John Boots Jr., whose dream it is to go to America. They meet the dashing Captain Morris and his old sea cat, Saul, a couple of rogue dogs and their notorious master, Mr. Thomas, and a couple of unlikely new friends as they sail across the Atlantic ocean on board the merchant ship Mercia Queen.
