Rainbow House

Book Description

Rainbow House is a children's book about a family of pixies who live on a rainbow. It can be enjoyed by good readers reading the book themselves or by younger readers listening to an adult or older child reading the book to them. It is a rhyming poem of eight verses. The first verse introduces the reader to the pixie family. The following seven verses describe each room and what goes on in each room. For example the red room is right at the top of the house and is where all the pixies sleep. The orange room a floor below is the classroom where they learn and so on through all seven colours. The illustrations are full of action and so can lead to lively discussion and children will also love to learn the verses off by heart. They are also introduced to other words which suggest each colour for example scarlet, apricot, golden, mint, sky, plum etc. so enhancing their vocabulary.
