This book was written in the first part of the nineteenth century when many of the opinions now associated with big game hunting were not openly expressed. That aside, the book gives a good description of the hunting and shooting of big game in Ceylon (Sri Lanka). William Baker recounts his experiences with clarity as he meets rogue elephants, many other wild animals, and the natives.
