The Second Wind of the Holy Spirit

Book Description

Salvation in Christ is a onetime experience, but God's second wind of the Holy Spirit fills and refills us again and again with unspeakable joy when we seek God's presence. The gift of the Holy Spirit was always God's plan for all of his followers. In Second Wind of the Holy Spirit, fresh fillings of the Holy Spirit are explored. Remember, Jesus promised his followers peace in life and power for service. With the Spirit's help, believers can live a Spirit-filled life. Would you like to help others grow spiritually? Do you yearn for God's comfort in times of grief for yourself and others? Are you bored with your spiritual life? God's second wind of the Holy Spirit opens new and challenging ways to serve Jesus. How do you feel about death? Second wind of the Holy Spirit goes to Calvary and listens to Jesus as he deals with his death and speaks his Seven Words from the cross. God's second wind of the Holy Spirit shatters doubts, melts fear, changes indifference, reveals scripture, and creates a bold prayer life. The Holy Spirit helps God's people serve him in ways they never thought possible. Lazarus died and was buried. Jesus said, "Lazarus, come out." He came out of the tomb wrapped in grave clothes. "Untie him and let him go," Jesus said (John 11:43-44)--in the same way God's second wind of the Holy Spirit frees his followers and releases them to live in the fullness of his amazing grace.

Thoughtful Adaptations to Change

Book Description

Western culture has changed radically in the last fifty years. Death seems less dreadful, sexuality less sacred, and humanity less dignified. Reason has yielded to passion, and science often to political bias. Philosophically and culturally, the West has slowly moved from modernism to postmodernism. It’s not surprising that this shift has also radically affected the Christian church. The doctrinal confidence of the past 350 years has given way to greater levels of theological confusion. But while the new era thrives on religious pluralism, a refreshing desire has arisen among many Christians to experience and share the unchanging good news of Jesus more authentically, accurately, and passionately. This book is written to help ordinary people understand the nature of the transition that has occurred, and to inspire them to allow the gospel itself to shape life and church ministry in the midst of this great change. Each chapter ends with important questions for reflection or discussion.

A Second Wind

Book Description

In A Second Wind Pastor Arni Jacobson and writer Robert Mims explore what happens when lifes greatest successes and spiritual victories are unexpectedly followed by stunning setbacks, doubt and depression. That journey begins with the ancient Jewish prophet Elijah and his confrontation with the wicked King Ahab and his murderous queen, Jezebel over the soul of Israel. Interspersed with Elijahs story are modern-day examples from the famous Dr. Gary Smalley, Pastors John and Joel Osteen, Pastor Rich Wilkerson and others as well as everyday people Pastor Jacobson has met and ministered to during times of grief, sickness, divorce and derailed dreams. All these accounts are connected by the need for the spiritual equivalent of what all long-distance runners crave the breath and grace to finish what remains ahead. Winds in the Sail

Book Description

Who has seen the wind? Where does it come from and where does it go? In this book I have shared a few of the many references of winds in the Bible. 1.The South wind. In Bible land the South wind is perhaps the most pleasant of all winds, but it is also the most dangerous. 2.The North wind, what is your message? And the North wind answer, I am the wind of judgement, and the justice of God. When the prophets- Jeremiah, Isaiah, Ezekiel and others foretold the judgements coming upon Israel, they almost always came from the North, from Babylon and Assyria, the rod of God's anger. For example: Ezekiel 13:13. 3.The East wind. We ask, East wind, what is your message? And the East Wind replies, I am the wind of affliction and trial. I have found the east wind to be the most penetrating, the most uncomfortable of all the winds. 4.The West wind mentioned in a very strange place in the Bible, - Exodus 10. When Pharaoh refused to let the people of Israel go. we are told that God smote the land with 10 plagues.
