The Seventeenth Annual Report of the Trustees with the List of Members

Book Description

Excerpt from The Seventeenth Annual Report of the Trustees With the List of Members: For the Year Ending December 31, 1892 The work of repairs to Memorial Hall, which was begun last year, was resumed this summer and continued throughout the fall. This necessitated the closing of one-half the building and accounts, in a measure, for the falling off in the number of visitors mentioned in the report of the Director of the Museum. One of the rooms on the north side of the building has been made ready as a studio for students of the School, to provide a place where objects from the cases in the exhibition-rooms may be brought for them to use as models, or for purposes of study. Eighth Annual Report of the Trustees and a List of Members

Book Description

Excerpt from Eighth Annual Report of the Trustees and a List of Members: For the Fiscal Year Ending December 31, 1883 In making this, their Eighth Annual Report, the Trustees are gratified to observe that a review of the history of the Institution during the past year shows evidence of substantial progress in sev eral important directions, particularly in respect of a growing appreciation by the community of the value and importance of the Museum and the School as educational factors. After the Centennial the ladies who, as the Women's Centennial Executive Committee, had labored so efficiently for the success of the Exhibition, continued their organization under the name of the Committee of Charities. On our invitation these ladies associated themselves with this Board, in March last, as the Associate Com mittee of Women, for the purpose of assisting in furthering the work of this Institution. One of the large pavilions in the Museum has been set apart for their use, in which to maintain a national memorial of the work done by the women of the country during the Centennial. As they were particularly interested in the work of the School, three of their number were appointed a committee auxiliary to the Committee on Instruction.
