Excerpt from The Vancouver Island Pilot: Containing Sailing Directions for the Coasts of Vancouver Island, and Part of British Columbia The Vancouver Island Pilot contains Sailing Directions for the whole of the coasts of Vancouver Island, including Juan de Fuca Strait; and the shores of British Columbia as far north as the parallel of 51 N., with the exception of some of the deep inlets, the examination of which is not yet completed. That portion from the entrance of Juan de Fuca Strait on the west, to Discovery Passage on the east, is by Captain G. H. Richards, R. N., during his survey of these coasts in H. M. Ships Plumper and Hecate, from 1858 to 1862; the remainder has been compiled from the journals of that officer and other documents, up to 1864, by E. P. Bedwell, Master, R. N., who assisted in the survey. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
