Robert Stephen Hawker (1803-1875) was an Anglican priest, poet, antiquarian of Cornwall and reputed eccentric who converted to Roman Catholicism on his deathbed. This biography was first published in 1876 and is reprinted from the new and revised edition of 1899. Illustrated with five photographs. The author, Sabine Baring-Gould (1834-1924), was also an Anglican priest and antiquarian, and a novelist, folk song collector and eclectic scholar with almost 1250 publications to his name.
