We know to-day as we never knew before what our country means to us and what price we are ready to pay for its preservation. But to the Church we are bound by a yet stronger loyalty. The future of the Church of Christ is a matter of deeper concern to the world than the future of the British Empire. And therefore, even in our absorption in the struggle for our national existence, we must ask how the Church is meeting the test of this crisis, when all things are being proved, and only that which is real can survive.
