Felix Holt, the Radical

Book Description

"Felix Holt, the Radical" by George Eliot is a social novel. It follows the seemingly world-ending political disputes in a small English town at the time of the First Reform Act of 1832. The story centres on an election contested by Harold Transome, a local landowner, in the "Radical cause" which isn't radical at all and instead is instead a political version of his own boring life. The quarrels that come out of it are a fun but also relevant romp anyone would love to read.
