Driven By Eternity

Book Description

One day you will stand before God and give an account of your life. The most important question you can ask yourself now is, will you be ready? Most Christians know their response to the cross determines where they will spend eternity. But did you know that how you’ll spend eternity is determined by what you do in this life? God wants you to discover your calling—He’s not trying to keep you in the dark. In fact, He longs for you to find the meaning and purpose that comes with knowing why you’ve been placed on this earth. In Driven by Eternity, best-selling author John Bevere uses an eye-opening allegory and extensive Scripture to unveil how our daily choices shape our eternal existence. Life beyond the final breath is much more than a destination. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Discover your God-given destiny and make your life count both today and forever.

Today for Eternity

Book Description

"Today: twenty-four hours, a morning, evening--never to be repeated again. Where did it go? Why did we live it? What makes today different from yesterday or tomorrow? Unless we seriously consider these questions now, there may come a time, when life is mostly spent, that our answer will be sadly that there was no difference. Ecclesiastes 1:4 says, 'A generation goes and a generation comes.' But this verse does not have to reflect reality! God 'has set eternity' in our hearts, and with this eternal perspective we can see beyond the daily routine that claims so many narrow-minded lives. How does one live today for eternity? This question, of course, assumes that you want to possess eternal purpose and significance in your life. But this perspecitve cannot be gained through and man's writing; instead, God has 'blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ' (Ephesians 1:3)...It is my hope that these daily readings, gleaned from decades of my father's sermons, will facilitate a powerful, divine work in you daily walk with Christ.' -- John C. Delhousaye, Faculty, Phoenix Seminary.

Living for Eternity

Book Description

A shining invitation to get to know the God of eternity on this journey of life The call to live for eternity is more important than ever for us all. So much that seemed reliable has been shaken as our world faces economic instability and seismic cultural shifts. Scandals have undermined our faith in politics, sports, entertainment, and the church. Fear of catastrophic climate change and of an ongoing pandemic casts a shadow over the future. The fragility of life is on display and we desperately need to know our eternal foundations. In Living for Eternity, Kate Patterson explores what it means to be "eternally minded"--living with a long view, keeping our hearts set on the eternal life we were made for--and how that reality has the power to transform our lives now. A profound invitation to get to know the God of forever, Patterson opens the Scriptures and points to the eternal one who is revealed in His eternal Word. Turning our eyes to the one whose eyes are on us, Patterson tells of a God who is always faithful and mindful of us. Unveiling the freedom that being eternally minded brings, Living for Eternityencourages us to live fearlessly, even in life's most difficult and grief-filled moments. Through it all, God is making us more and more Christlike as we journey with him to our eternal destination.

Time, Eternity, and the Trinity

Book Description

One of the vital issues in contemporary Christian theology is the problem of a renewed understanding of God's eternity and its relation to time. This is not merely a peripheral doctrinal issue, but lies at the heart of our understanding of God and humanity, and contributes to our entire worldview. This study focuses on a long-standing debate between two competing views on God's eternity: one focused on God's absolute timelessness in classical theism, and the other on God's temporal everlastingness in contemporary panentheism. In contrast to both of these well-worn options, this book presents an alternative Trinitarian analogical understanding of God's eternity and its relation to time, especially through a critical reflection on Karl Barth's and Hans Urs von Balthasar's engagement of the issue. This analogical approach, based on the dynamic and dramatic concepts of God's being-in-relation and of the Triune God's communicative action in eternity and time, has the potential to resolve the debate between absolute timeless eternity and temporal everlasting duration.

The Everlasting and the Eternal
