Excerpt from Transactions of the American Institute of Mining Engineers, Vol. 1: May, 1871, to February, 1873 The present volume contains the rules of the Institute, a list of members and associates, an abstract of the proceedings of the first two years, and a number of papers selected from those proceedings. There is, therefore, nothing new in it. The papers have all been published, according to the custom of the Institute, in the Engineer ing and Mining Journal, and many of them have been copied into other periodicals.
