Excerpt from Transactions of the California State Agricultural Society During the Year 1881 Section 1. The State Agricultural Society is hereby declared to be a State institution. Sec. 2. Within ten days after the passage of this Act, the Governor shall appoint twelve resident citizens of the State, who shal when organized, constitute a State Boar of A rieul ture, who shall, except as hereinafter provided, hold office for the term of four years, an until their successors are appointed and qualified. Vacancies occurring from any cause in the Board shall be filled by appointment of the Governor for the unexpired term of the office vacated.
