There are lots of books out there written about love; some great ones discuss the importance of early secure attachment, and plenty too have been written about relationships and how to make them better. This book is a bit different. Dr. David Daniels, Professor Emeritus Stanford Medical School, brings his personal passion for human development to over 40 years of study as a private-practice psychiatrist (working primarily with couples), a 61-year marriage, and a deep and comprehensive understanding of human temperament and personality proclivities, to the table. Thanks to having studied something called, "the Enneagram," David says, "Of all of the treatment modalities I worked with and tried out across my therapeutic career, nothing came close to helping couples heal their hearts and relax their defenses as much as I witnessed happening when using a comprehensive application of the Enneagram system." Understanding ourselves as well as others -- with acceptance, discernment, curiosity, and wonderment -- in the way the Enneagram precipitates, provides the greatest foundation from which to build healthier, more receptive and more fulfilling relationships. It is our fundamental relationships that sustain our lives, fuel our happiness, and support our greater development and potential. Bringing this book to fruition was the passionate focus of much of David's time, exploration, and thought the last many years of his life. Within in it holds David's endearing understanding of human relationships and his devotion to contributing to a more loving world.

People often make the mistake of thinking opposites attract. Opposites never attract, that would be like a criminal hooking up with a nun. However, opposing personality types often attract; this is when one partner says "black" the other says "white." This book shows what is required to keep these opposing forces also complementary. The Chinese philosophy of the Yin Yang states that two opposing yet complementary forces lie at the base of how all things work. This philosophy shows how people can flow in natural harmony and what is required during conflict. We have all delightfully experienced a waiter who obviously takes joy in serving his clients or a boss who naturally leads while caring for his employees, versus those not equipped for the responsibility they work in. Character dynamics exist similar to these in relationships and understanding them provides insight as to why certain couples naturally get along while others operate with a lack of intimacy and connection. By answering a questionnaire, you can identify your type and the formula for how to identify your logical match. Learn how to know a partner who is complementary to your character and how to remain connected without conflict to people who are not. Understanding these types enables you to discover what went wrong in past relationships, a way to find harmony in current strained relationships, and a formula for finding more compatible partners moving forward. Jalaluddin Rumi said, "Not to seek for love, but to seek all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it." A basic understanding of these types allows you to overcome self-imposed barriers preventing the flow of abundance in your life and relationships. Fears, insecurities, shame, defense mechanisms, and past relationships all play a part in how a person seeks to find their contentment or avoids perceived discomfort or fear. Awareness of these aspects shows when you sabotage the harmony in your life or relationship and how to overcome that. This awareness also allows you to recognize a partner that has the ability to accept your nature while fulfilling theirs. www.TheArtofUnity.com Author Bio Bill Farr is a wellness coach, an instructor in various forms of martial arts and meditation, a former kickboxing champion and professional Argentine Tango dancer. The aim of this book is to give the first large-scale typological investigation of pluractionality in the languages of the world. Pluractionality is defined as the morphological modification of the verb to express a plurality of situations that can additionally involve a plurality of participants and/or spaces. Based on a 246-language sample, the main characteristics of pluractionality are described and discussed throughout the book. Firstly, a description of the functions that pluractional markers cross-linguistically express is presented and the relationships occurring among them are explained through the semantic map model. Then, the marking strategies that languages display to express such functions are illustrated and some issues concerning the formal identification are briefly discussed as well. The typological generalizations are corroborated showing how pluractional markers work in three specific languages (Akawaio, Beja, Maa). In conclusion, the theoretical conceptualization of pluractionality is discussed referring to the Radical Construction Grammar approach.

Who are you really? That is, how do you operate? And what is your best route to up your level in life? A century ago, the famous Swiss psychiatrist Dr. C.G. Jung described eight ways people function. Like right versus left handedness, we develop preferences-our gifts. But what's next? First, we can nurture our gifts. We can also deal with our shadowy blind-spots and chart a path that continually completes the pattern of who we are. Jung predicted how the brain works: We start largely undifferentiated and grow with biases, then conflicts and crises arise inevitably, and we can retreat from those opportunities or we can choose to reinvent ourselves. What is your choice? Based on the work of C.G. Jung's 8 Psychological Types, with over thirty pages of quotations and analysis. Starts with a brain-based introduction to 8 cognitive processes. Takes you to the next level, focusing on development. Explores the problem of one-sidedness, "tension of opposites", and the Transcendent function. For each process, features a 30-page coaching packet based on 14 years of hands-on neuroscience of 350+ people from all walks of life. Presents over 40 case studies and over 200 personalized tips for you to develop keener perception and wiser judgment. Puts personality within a social context. Includes two chapters of activities for teams and coaches. Introduces The Magic Diamond, a powerful new metaphor to chart your path to personal and professional growth. Award-winning instructor and world-renowned personality and neuroscience researcher, Dario Nardi, brings Jung's incredible work into the 21st century. His other books include Neuroscience of Personality, 8 Keys to Self-Leadership, Jung on Yoga, and 16 Personality Types.

The Enneagram is a powerful tool, with ancient roots and modern appeal, for detailing the human personality. It illuminates the painful truth of where we are and inspires us with the promise of where we could be. As the Enneagram has grown in popularity over the past 30 years, the insights offered have focused either on the present or the future, with little guidance on how to move from Point A to Point B. In the The Conscious Enneagram Abi Robins offers a rich, insightful guide for those seeking to move from patterns to promise. Through practical, easy-to-understand coaching, storytelling, and personal inquiry, Robins explores three main ways for getting from where we are to where we could be: Practice, Lineage, and Community. These make up the three-legged stool of the inner and outer work required to radically change the way we think, feel, and move through the world. This book will show you how to cultivate each of these legs in your life in meaningful, enriching ways that are tailored to your type.
