"Overall, this book is an excellent resource for novice sonography students, but also provides a useful reference book for the more experienced sonographer." Reviewed by: Dr Vivien Gibbs on behalf of RAD Magazine Date: July 2015 - Scanning principles and step-by-step instructions on how to scan and document images help users establish standardization and image documentation for physician diagnostic interpretation. - Scanning protocols that follow AIUM guidelines provides the essential information on patient prep, transducers, breathing techniques, comprehensive surveys, and required images. The location of specific vessels or organs, anatomy and physiology, sonographic appearance, and normal variations are also included. - Sonographic ergonomics and proper use of equipment help sonographers avoid occupational injuries. - Scanning protocol for pathology provides the criteria for evaluating and documenting abnormal sonographic findings, describing those findings within legal parameters, and relating those findings to the interpreting physician. - Review questions at the end of each chapter give users the ability to self-review. - NEW! Transducer location drawings included on images helps users understand exactly where on the body they should scan to produce a particular image. - NEW! Musculoskeletal chapter provides musculoskeletal coverage for those sonographers interested in this specialty. - NEW! Two-color streamlined design enhances readability and allows for more images on the page. - NEW! 300 new images demonstrate superior quality images from the latest state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment. - NEW! Pedagogy including key terms and objectives is included at the beginning of each chapter to specify chapter expectations and focus study.

Atlas of Human Body Ultrasound Scanning

Book Description

This atlas describes the diagnosis practice and cases of human body ultrasound. It includes anatomic section, standard scan ultrasonogram of every organ, scanning methods and key points, measurement methods, normal value ranges, and clinical significances of every sections. Providing basic information and fundamental principles of ultrasonic diagnosis, it discusses ultrasound scanning of 14 organs in individual chapters. Each section sonography is accompanied by the scanning method, section structure, measuring method and clinical application. The uniform structure and detailed instructions make this atlas an easy-to-use resource for residents to refer to when they encounter specific ultrasound diagnostic problems.

Medical Imaging Systems

Book Description

This open access book gives a complete and comprehensive introduction to the fields of medical imaging systems, as designed for a broad range of applications. The authors of the book first explain the foundations of system theory and image processing, before highlighting several modalities in a dedicated chapter. The initial focus is on modalities that are closely related to traditional camera systems such as endoscopy and microscopy. This is followed by more complex image formation processes: magnetic resonance imaging, X-ray projection imaging, computed tomography, X-ray phase-contrast imaging, nuclear imaging, ultrasound, and optical coherence tomography.

Manual of Diagnostic Ultrasound

Book Description

Forlagets beskrivelse: The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes ultrasound as an important medical diagnostic imaging technology. Manuals on ultrasound have been published by WHO since 2001, with the purpose of guiding health professionals on the safe and effective use of ultrasound. Among the diagnostic imaging technologies, ultrasound is the safer and least expensive, and technological advances are making it more user friendly and portable. Ultrasound has many uses, both diagnostic and therapeutic. For the purposes of this manual, only diagnostic ultrasound will be considered and further analysed. Basic physics of ultrasonographic imaging was released in 2005; since then, WHO has addressed the physics, safe use and different applications of ultrasound as an important diagnostic imaging tool. Since it is a non ionizing radiation technology, along with nuclear magnetic resonance imaging, the risks inherent to its use are lower than those presented by other diagnostic imaging technologies using ionizing radiation, such as the radiological technologies (X-rays and computed tomography scanners).

Basic Ultrasound

Book Description

A thorough introduction to diagnostic ultrasound which has little in common with other forms of medical investigation and imaging due to the fact that the operation of equipment and interpretation of findings are highly operator dependent. Contains a detailed description regarding its principles and diverse applications in a variety of clinical situations.
