In just a few short years, massive shifts in public opinion have radically reshaped society’s views on homosexuality. Feeling the pressure to forsake long-held beliefs about sex and marriage, some argue that Christians have historically misunderstood the Bible’s teaching on this issue. But does this approach do justice to what the Bible really teaches about homosexuality? In this timely book, award-winning author Kevin DeYoung challenges each of us—the skeptic, the seeker, the certain, and the confused—to take a humble look at God’s Word. Examining key biblical passages in both the Old and New Testaments and the Bible’s overarching teaching regarding sexuality, DeYoung responds to popular objections raised by Christians and non-Christians alike—offering readers an indispensable resource for thinking through one of the most pressing issues of our day.

In 2019 a series of ten articles by various authors was published on the liberal Anglican website ViaMedia.News under the collective title 'Does the Bible Really Say....?' The purpose of this series was to challenge the belief that the Bible rules out acceptance of same-sex sexual relationships and same-sex marriage. The essays in this book are response to these ViaMedia.News articles. They show that the arguments that these articles put forward are not sustainable in the light of what the Bible actually says. Underlying the current debate in the Church about human sexuality is the question asked of Eve by the snake 'Did God really say?' (Genesis 3:1). Through nature and Scripture God has said clearly that he has created human beings as male and female and has ordained marriage between one man and one woman as the sole legitimate setting for sexual intercourse. We know that this is what God has told us and yet in the face of pressure from our contemporary culture we are tempted to question whether this is what he really meant. It is of the utmost importance that this temptation is resisted. The purpose of this book is to encourage such resistance.

Over half of Americans believe in a literal heaven, in a literal hell. Most people who hold these beliefs are Christian and assume they are the age-old teachings of the Bible. Ehrman shows that eternal rewards and punishments are found nowhere in the Old Testament, and are not what Jesus or his disciples taught. He recounts the long history of the afterlife, ranging from The Epic of Gilgamesh up to the writings of Augustine, focusing especially on the teachings of Jesus and his early followers. Ehrman shows that competing views were intimately connected with the social, cultural, and historical worlds out of which they emerged. -- adapted from jacket
