MaryJane the youngest child in the family of nine was two years old when the courts seized the family. She returned to live with her mother for a short time. After being subjected to extreme poverty and abuse by her mother she was placed back into care when she was almost four years old. This book is written from her memoirs, foster care reports and interviews with social workers in charge of her case. MaryJane suffered an illness of deep depression spending three years in therapy before except the past and move forward with her life. She tells how child abuse and abandonment can deter a child as an adult from making appropriate decisions and becoming independent. MaryJane spent her entire life living with one of her sisters with a burning desire to be reunited with the rest of her siblings her parents and to find her roots. She tells her story how she becomes reunited with her siblings and her father as a teenager. She remarried and while on her honeymoon she travels back to Ontario to be reunited with her mother after thirty-seven years.
