The Love Cure

Book Description

The Love Cure is not a method, it is a state of mind and a set of perspectives. The point of this text is to shed light on the parallels and common threads that have occurred and exist throughout some of the most effective modalities of healing and transformation at play now. At the root of every healing modality is a perspective, an understood truth that guides all recommendations. I am taking an approach opposite to that of describing the modality - I am interested in the undeniable truth at the root of every healing, miraculous recovery and transformation that has ever occurred. That root is Love. No matter the 'illness', the cure is Love. No matter the question, the answer is Love. Love in all its expressions and facets and complexities is what I am exploring here.

The Myths of Love

Book Description

This study seeks to define the medieval literary conventions governing allusions to certain Ovidian and Virgilian tales of love in the works of Boccaccio, Machaut, Froissart, and Chaucer. Using evidence from the Latin mythographers, it addresses several much-debated critical issues in medieval scholarship: questions of narrative voice, thematic unity, and purpose. Its principal contribution is to the discussion and evaluation of the French and Italian poems of love to which Chaucer was most heavily indebted. The author suggests that the love poems of Boccaccio, Machaut, and Froissart, rather than being ponderous didactic productions designed to instruct medieval audiences in the art of love, are true progeny of the Roman de la Rose, complex jeux d'esprit much closer in spirit and intention to the works of Chaucer than has been supposed.

Their son, James, came along unexpectedly in the fall of 2007, and just six months later, everything changed in a moment for this young family. Katherine was immediately rushed into brain surgery, though her chance of survival was slim. As the sun rose the next morning, the surgeon proclaimed that Katherine had survived the removal of part of her brain, though her future recovery was uncertain. Geek Love

Book Description

National Book Award Finalist • Here is the unforgettable story of the Binewskis, a circus-geek family whose matriarch and patriarch have bred their own exhibit of human oddities—with the help of amphetamines, arsenic, and radioisotopes. One of The Atlantic’s Great American Novels of the Past 100 Years Their offspring include Arturo the Aquaboy, who has flippers for limbs and a megalomaniac ambition worthy of Genghis Khan . . . Iphy and Elly, the lissome Siamese twins . . . albino hunchback Oly, and the outwardly normal Chick, whose mysterious gifts make him the family’s most precious—and dangerous—asset. As the Binewskis take their act across the backwaters of the U.S., inspiring fanatical devotion and murderous revulsion; as its members conduct their own Machiavellian version of sibling rivalry, Geek Love throws its sulfurous light on our notions of the freakish and the normal, the beautiful and the ugly, the holy and the obscene. Family values will never be the same.
