A richly illustrated panel discussion transcript comprises the first part of the book. It is followed by a roots of Woodstock photo essay that highlights such Woodstock writers and performers as Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Allen Ginsberg, Pete Seeger, and Richie Havens. In addition it chronicles the Arts and Crafts origins of the town from the 1800s, and highlights the town's hallowed tradition of weekend-long musical concerts. These began in the early 1900s with Woodstock's Maverick festivals, and stretched up through the countercultural Sound-Outs of the 1960s. Bob Fass, a Woodstock Sound-Out emcee and host of WBAI's Radio Unnameable for close to fifty years has contributed a brilliant and evocative foreword to the book. Also included are a compendium of important Woodstock players, a map of historic 1960s locations in the Woodstock area, and 115 images many of them rare, vintage photos of the Woodstock music and art scenes.

Woodstock chirps out birdspeak, a one-of-a-kind language that Snoopy is fortunate enough to understand, so they can communicate in a very special way. It's kind of like that with your own best friend, isn't it? This is a perfect gift for the Peanuts fan or anyone with whom you share that exclusive bond called friendship. The kit includes bendable figurines of Snoopy and Woodstock and a 32-page guide to maintaining the perfect friendship.

A charming and powerful example of how a great mass of material can be presented in an interesting and accurate manner. . . An excellent book for personal reading but. . . the perfect text for religion courses, C.C.D. programs, and adult education. - Spirituality Today [A] unique, people-oriented approach to the history of the Roman Catholic church. . . An ambitious, enlightening study not strictly for Catholics and suitable both for teaching and individual research. - Booklist A Catholic would welcome [it] as a gift. - Andrew M. Greeley, American Bookseller A work important both for itself and for the method it uses. . . Cunningham manages to convey a sweep of Catholic history and tradition that is remarkable. . . [it] may well become a classic in its own right. - Best Sellers An attractive text for an introductory course on Catholicism for college undergraduates, something many of us have been looking for in vain in recent years. -Cross Currents In a novel and engaging way, it presents a rather comprehensive picture of the many-faceted Roman Catholic tradition. Emphasis is on the spiritual rather than on the political or doctrinal. . . A list of 'Readings and Trajectories' at the end of each chapter. . . enhances the value of the book. - The Living Light A good book, written out of classroom experience, waiting to be taken back into the classroom. - New Catholic World

The seven essays included in this volume move beyond the famed Ashcan School to recover the lesser known work of Robert Henri's women students. The contributors, who include well-known scholars of art history, American studies, and cultural studies demonstrate how these women participated in the "modernizing" of women's roles during this era.

Focusing mostly on the artist's use of lithography but also including a selection of his oil paintings, this retrospective explores Brown's unique and formidable contributions to American printmaking, as well as the seminal role he played in bringing the arts to Woodstock, New York.
