Book Description

Excerpt from Yearbook of the United States Department of Agriculture In presenting the Yearbook of the Department of Agriculture for 1896 to farmers and others interested in the subject of agriculture, it is hoped that it may, in a measure at least, fulfill whatever expecta tions have been aroused by the two preceding volumes. When the Annual Report of the United States Department of Agriculture first appeared in this form, the hepe was expressed that future numbers of the book would still more fully justify the new departure. It is therefore hoped that no backward step is evidenced in the present volume and that the work may indicate a steady growth toward the ideal which has been continually in mind, but which is as yet so far short of attainment.
