An Uncharted Journey Into the Abyss

Book Description

In between the covers of An Uncharted Journey Into the Abyss, are eighteen short stories that don’t always end up with fairy tale endings. In fact, quite a few of them rip at our emotions and pause us to think about life, and how it doesn’t always end up the way we planned. From an Indian tribe on the brink of slaughter, to a hard nosed veteran policeman tracking a serial killer, we find ourselves drawn deep within the psyche of the main characters. Can a poor young Mexican boy save his family and farm from a vicious predator eating their livestock? Will a cocky self-assured man from back East have his ego shattered by a native American cashier in the West? Or will you be soaring above the crashing seas as a ptarmigan looking for an escape? An Uncharted Journey Into the Abyss will walk you along high mountain trails with a curmudgeonly old prospector, haunt a family as a Civil War ghost, and even visit a planet on a search and reconnaissance mission. And within each story, embedded deep within each of them, is a kernel of truth. Whether you, as the reader, decide to decipher its meaning is completely up to you.

Uncharted

Book Description

"In Uncharted, internationally acclaimed intuitive counselor and "spiritual cartographer" Colette Baron Reid, whose best-selling books include The Map and Messages from Spirit, shows us that in the new normal of uncertainty, we can overcome the challenge of feeling disoriented, scared, and helpless and chart a path to new possibilities. It's in the places unfamiliar to us--the uncharted places--where magic lies. Here we can claim our innate power to give birth to an extraordinary life and become who we are called to become. Colette explains, "When we're lost, we all want a map--but maps can only tell us where we've been." All of us, personally and collectively, are headed somewhere new, to a future that has not yet been imagined, and we're creating it as we go. With her trademark compassionate candor and reassuring humor, as well as input from a wise, loving consciousness who call themselves "Fred," Colette guides us on a journey of co-creation through five interconnected realms--the Realms of Spirit, Mind, Light, and Energy, Form. Whatever we wish to experience and manifest, if we start in the realm of Form, trying to fix our lives and think our way out of our problems, we end up living inauthentically and feeling disappointed. But if we orient ourselves in the Realm of Spirit first, a magical process of transformation begins within, from which we can manifest a new reality far better than we might ever have imagined. Following this path, we get to experience what we came to create in the Realm of Form, and watch as our fear gives way to a deep sense of purpose and enthusiasm for participating in the co-creative process. Throughout Uncharted are fresh and exciting exercises drawn from Colette's trademarked energy psychology process, IN-Vizion

The Kill

Book Description

When word reaches her in war-torn Afghanistan that her beloved Uncle Richard has been brutally murdered, globe-trotting photojournalist Abigale Portmann reluctantly abandons her assignment and returns to the rolling hills and rocky relationships of her past in the picturesque equestrian community of Middleburg, Virginia—a place she has painstakingly avoided for 17 years. While the sheriff thinks the murder is a random robbery gone bad, Abigale soon becomes convinced her uncle was slain by someone he knew. Suspicion swirls among colorful characters in the tweedy, foxhunting crowd, including a superficial nouveau riche social climber, the lazy heir to an old-money fortune, and, most painfully to Abigale, her former childhood sweetheart. As the gripping plot unfolds, friends become suspects and family ties are tested, until events spin out of control and the riveting tale races to a terrifying finish.

Maria Obiechina has been greatly moved by certain events in the world and her life. In her debut collection of poems, she shares poignant verse that explores emotions, human frailty and strength, loss, love, and regrets. Obiechina, who has been an educator in both America and Nigeria, lyrically reflects on her life experiences as she attempted to understand complex events around her and find a better path. Her poems express her frustration after visiting a Nigerian factory, the pain of unrequited love, the heartbreak of war, the beauty of a winter’s day, and the differences between generations. Through it all, Obiechina gently encourages all of us to embrace tolerance, differences, and empathy toward others as we continue on own unique journeys.
