Book Description

It took nearly an hour to wend their way through traffic to the office complex where Tom was to meet Mark Anthony. He knew where he was going and soon was shaking hands with Mark. "Hi, Mark, how did last week go for you? Is the gang war worse or just normal?Mark greeted him with, "It sure is good to see you. You know we need help. How has it been for you and your family? You know you always have that fog to deal with in the morning. We have four people from different disturbances picked up and waiting for you. I already have one of them ready."Tom knew Mark was busy so he asked to talk to the person doing the interviewing. They talked about the procedures he preferred to follow. Tom explained that he would be taking notes and said, "Will you be interviewing all the suspects during the day? If so, we should take a lunch break whenever we finish with the first suspect. Does that sound like an approach?"The interviewer agreed and said it was time to start. He led the way to the interview room where the suspect was sitting under the supervision of a policeman. The interviewer started asking questions and talking about the young man's involvement in a gang. Tom sat to one side on a chair so the suspect could see him and not get too upset if Tom was behind him.The young man looked about 16 or 17 and Tom soon picked up thoughts that he was 15 and very unhappy to be here. He tried to be threatening in his answers along with sullenness, The interviewer continued as did Tom reading thoughts and picking up names of leaders of the gang and more activities the gang has done. He implicated himself in the shooting over the weekend and indicated that a rumble was coming down that night. Tom noted details so the police could be prepared.
