Acetylene Production from Coal - Cost Analysis - Acetylene E21A

Book Description

This report presents a cost analysis of Acetylene production from coal via a typical calcium carbide process. In this process calcium oxide (lime) is reduced by carbon in a electric furnace, generating calcium carbide. This intermediate is then hydrolyzed to produce Acetylene and calcium hydroxide. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): Keywords: Coke, Carbon, Electric Furnace

Acetylene Production from Natural Gas - Cost Analysis - Acetylene E11A

Book Description

This report presents a cost analysis of Acetylene production from natural gas using a partial combustion process The process examined is similar to BASF process. In this process, natural gas is subjected to high temperatures and is converted to acetylene and hydrogen. The heat required by this endothermic reaction is provided by the combustion of natural gas, which occurs at the same time in the burner, in the presence of substoichiometric amounts of oxygen. The Acetylene product is recovered by selective absorption into N-methylpyrrolidinone solvent and subsequently passed through stripping columns. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): "Acetylene", Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry, 7th edition Keywords: Methane, Partial Oxidation, Oxygen, Acetylene Burner

Acetylene Production from Natural Gas - Cost Analysis - Acetylene E12A

Book Description

This report presents a cost analysis of Acetylene production from natural gas via a typical arc process. This process employs a high-power electric arc furnace supplied with direct current electricity to crack natural gas into olefinic compounds, Acetylene is recovered from the reactor stream after numerous purification steps. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): Keywords: Methane, Arc Process, Huls Process

Acetaldehyde Production from Acetylene - Cost Analysis - Acetaldehyde E31A

Book Description

This report presents a cost analysis of Acetaldehyde production from acetylene. The process examined is an acetylene hydration technology similar to the one developed by Chisso. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): Keywords: Ethanal, Chisso, Acetylene Hydration

Activated Carbon Production from Coal - Cost Analysis - Activated Carbon E21A

Book Description

This report presents a cost analysis of Powdered Activated Carbon production from coal. In the process under analysis, Activated Carbon is produced via a typical steam activation process. This report was developed based essentially on the following reference(s): (1) "Carbon, Activated", Kirk-Othmer Encyclopedia of Chemical Technology, 5th edition (2) "Carbon, 5. Activated Carbon", Ullmann's Encyclopedia of Industrial Chemistry, 2010 Keywords: Steam Activated Process, Carbonization, Activated Charcoal, Activated Coal, Carbo Activatus
