Part A contains sections related to Canada's international competitiveness in the minerals & metals sector, including the state of the Canadian economy & minerals/metals industry, the world outlook for minerals & metals, international comparisons of production costs, and the financial performance of Canadian mineral companies. Part B discusses policy & regulatory issues related to the minerals & metals industry, including taxation aspects. The final part assesses Canada's geological potential, with a focus on diamond & base metal deposits. Appendices include a list of Canadian deposits of selected major metals undergoing appraisal as of January 1996.
