Expanded Project for Aquatic Plant Control in South Carolina


Book Description

The Corps of Engineers, in cooperation wth the State of South Carolina, will plan and conduct a five-year program to provide for control, destruction, and progressive eradication of alligatorweed and other obnoxinous aquatic plant growths in, or along the banks of rivers, streams, canals, lakes, ponds, their tributaries, and/or other allied waters, including drainage and irrigation ditches, within the State of South Carolina, in te combined interest of navigation, flood control, drainage, agriculture, fish and wildlife conservation, public health and related purposes, including continued research for development of the most effective and economic control measures. The program wil;l include field destruction of obnoxious aquatic plant growth by the use of herbicides and/or other means assigned, coordinaton of the research program for the overall expanded aquatic plant control project, observation analysis, and evaluation of both prototype and research work, and the preparation and submission on interim and final reports giving results and findings, and recommending further action on the project.
