HIV and AIDS in Canada

Book Description

This is the first integrated HIV/AIDS surveillance report that covers material formerly presented in two separate reports (HIV in Canada and AIDS in Canada), reflecting an integrated approach to HIV/AIDS surveillance. It includes a section on statistical modelling and projections of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. The report is produced on the basis of non-nominal, confidential information on HIV positive test reports provided by all provinces and territories. Data contained in the report provide information only on those tested. The data do not represent the total number of people infected with HIV in Canada and do not provide information on the untested population. Data include number of positive tests by year of test, exposure category, province/territory, gender, and age group; numbers of perinatal HIV-exposed infants; numbers of AIDS cases reported by age group, exposure category, year of diagnosis, gender, and province/territory; and numbers of deaths reported.
