Illustrated Altas Map of Howard County MO

Book Description

This is a black & white reprint of the original color 1876 Atlas. In addition to detailed maps showing roads, rivers, building locations, orchards, cemeteries and other topographical information, it contains pages of illustrations of prominent buildings of the time, including residences, college buildings, banks, a hotel, a library, and many farms. It also includes several pages of biographical sketches of prominent residents of the county. It also has a "patrons directory" listing people, their occupation, and what state they were born in. This is a very large (length and width-wise) atlas. Howard County was one of the earlier settled areas in Missouri (starting in 1810), before Missouri became a state in 1821, and was eventually broken into 39 smaller counties.
