Book Description

Excerpt from Pedigrees From the Visitation of Hampshire Made by Thomas Benolt, Clarenceulx Anno 1530, Enlarged With the Visitation of the Same County Made by Robert Cooke, Clarenceulx Anno 1575: Both Which Are Continued With the Visitation Made by John Phillipott, Somersett (for William Camden, Clarenceux) In Anno 1622, Most Part Then Done and Finished in Anno 1634 It is not easy to distinguish the additions to the Visitation Pedigrees made by Richard Mundy; those by other hands are here noted, and from the different style of tricking, the arms added may easily be distinguished. It will be noticed that there are two very similar Pedigrees of Stewkley if not an oversight, possibly the intended additions to one or both were never made. The Arms of the Hampshire Gentry in trick have been placed at the end of the volume, instead of at the beginning as in the original ms. Many of the quarterings are named in Harl. Ms. 1544; and all additions by the Editor are printed in italics within square brackets. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
