New Testament Evangelism (Classic Reprint)

Book Description

Excerpt from New Testament Evangelism This little book is sent out with a deep conviction of the truth of its organizing idea, and at the same time with a very keen consciousness of the inadequate manner in which that idea has been developed. The occasion of publication is a request addressed to me by the Committee on Evangelism, appointed by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Canada, that I should print certain lectures delivered by me a year ago to the Alumni Conference of Knox College, Toronto. I have acceded to this request, only in the hope that my words, insufficient though they are to do justice to so great a theme, might afford some encouragement and guidance t, o my younger brethren in the ministry. I covet for my students, and for all in the ministry whom I can in any way influence and help no higher honor than that they should do with zeal and efficiency the work of evangelism. If they shall find in what I have written anything to strengthen their hope and direct their endeavor, I will be profoundly thankful. The central idea ia my mind is the primacy of evangelism in the Church's work. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Book Description

Excerpt from Evangelism: A Re-Interpretation There are multiplying signs at the present time of a growing uneasiness, both on the part of ministers and members of all Christian Churches, on the subject of Evangelism. The Church has been occupied for a considerable period with different aspects of the truth, critical, theological, social - all of which are important, but they are beginning to realize that her chief business in this world is to preach the gospel and to save the unsaved. And it is just here that so many able ministries and highly organized Churches seem to be failing, while there are powerful influences at work which hinder the accomplishment of this task. Doubtless for each new day - just as there must be a restatement of ancient truth - Evangelism must take a new form. But a great evangelistic movement in all the Churches is already overdue and in order that it may arise, the conviction of its necessity and possibility must be deepened and extended. The purpose of this book is to contribute towards this much desired end. The Editor has been fortunate enough to secure the assistance of men whose authority on matters of religion will be universally recognized. They belong to different schools of.
